Better protection for people living with intellectual disability or cognitive impairment

New laws have been introduced as part of South Australia’s Disability Justice Plan to increase protection for people living with intellectual disability or cognitive impairment.

The two new sexual offences relate to any person who provides a service to someone with cognitive impairment, whether paid or not. This might include home care assistants, support workers, cleaners or nurses but also extends to others like hairdressers, bus drivers or social activity volunteers.
